Hello, lovely readers! I’m so excited to share a delightful twist on a classic treat that I’ve been enjoying lately: Oreo Banana Bread. As you might remember from the about page, in the Get to Know Me section, I mentioned my love for Oreo so when I came across this Oreo Banana Bread recipe on Instagram, although I didn’t save the post (oops!) I knew I had to try it.
Now, if you’re like my husband and daughter, who aren’t exactly banana bread enthusiasts, don’t worry. My hope is that this recipe might just convert y’all into fans! While they might not appreciate the classic banana bread, adding Oreo cookies into the mix turns it into something exciting.
I was confident that it couldn’t be too difficult to recreate especially if you already have a banana bread recipe that you love and have been following. And I was right! With just a few basic ingredients, you can whip up this delicious bread in no time.
LET’S GET INTO THE RECIPE
OREO BANANA BREAD
Equipment
- 1 Bread Loaf Pan
- 1 spatula
- 1 Medium Mixing Bowl
- 1 Large Mixing Bowl
- Measuring Cups
- Measuring Spoons
- Whisk
Ingredients
- 4 Ripened Bananas previously frozen then thawed and mashed
- 1/3 Cup Unsalted Butter melted
- 3/4 Cup Granulated White Sugar
- 1 Egg
- 1 Tsp Pure Vanilla Extract
- 1 1/2 Cup All Purpose Flour
- 1 Tsp Baking Soda
- 1/4 Tsp Salt
- 1 1/2 Cup Oreos chopped
The Glaze
- 1 Cup Powdered Sugar
- 2 Tbsp Milk
- 1 Tbs Vanilla
- 1/2 Cup Oreos chopped
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (176°C) and spray a loaf pan with non-stick cooking spray or grease with butter and set aside.
- In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda and salt; set aside.
- Melt butter, and let rest to cool slightly.
- In a large mixing bowl, add the mashed banana (if previously frozen then thawed; mash bananas with the liquid – this has tons of flavour).
- Add granulated white sugar, eggs, and pure vanilla extract; stir until well combined, then mix in butter.
- Stir in flour mixture and mix together with a spatula until well combined.
- Add in the chopped Oreo cookies.
- Mix together until evenly distributed.
- Pour the batter into prepared loaf pan and bake for 50 – 60 minutes or until golden brown on top and a toothpick inserted in the center of the bread comes out clean.
- Let cool for 10 minutes in the pan before transferring to a wire cooling rack to cool completely.
THE GLAZE
- Whisk together the glaze ingredients (powdered sugar, milk and vanilla) in a small bowl until smooth.
- Drizzle over the top of the loaf.
- Top with chopped Oreo cookies. Let it set for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving. ENJOY!!!
